Bend was warmer, drier than average in June

According to preliminary data received by NOAA’s National Weather Service in Pendleton, temperatures at Bend averaged warmer than normal during the month of June — and it was drier than normal as well.

The average temperature at the Bend Municipal Airport, where official records are kept, was 60.1 degrees, which was 3.1 degrees above normal, the NWS said. High temperatures averaged 76.0 degrees, which was 3.7 degrees above normal. The highest was 98 degrees on the 26th. Low temperatures averaged 44.3 degrees, which was 2.4 degrees above normal. The lowest was 35 degrees, on the 9th.

On three days, the temperature exceeded 90 degrees.

Precipitation totaled 0.39 inches during June, which was 0.31 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation -at least .01 inch- was received on 3 days with the heaviest, 0.23 inches reported on the 12th.

Precipitation this year has reached 5.14 inches, which is 0.58 inches below normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at Bend has been 10.58 inches, which is 0.67 inches above normal.

The highest wind gust was 40 mph. which occurred on the 25th.

The outlook for July from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center calls for near to above-normal temperatures and near normal precipitation. Normal highs for Bend during July are 81.5 degrees and normal lows are 47.6 degrees. The 30 year normal precipitation is 0.56 inches.
