Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation awards $10,000 for Mary’s Place
The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation has awarded Saving Grace a $10,000 grant to support Central Oregon parents who have experienced intimate partner violence, sexual assault, or stalking through its supervised visitation and safe exchange program, Mary’s Place.
“The new grant award to Saving Grace from Cow Creek will fund additional hours for the Mary’s Place advocate to increase her capacity to assist survivors,” said Mary’s Place Program Manager Gail Bartley. “Mary’s Place provides safety during parenting time for families with a history of domestic violence, serving an average of 45 families per month.”
The grant was part of $420,800 awarded to 65 nonprofits in seven Oregon counties, including 15 Central Oregon organizations, in service of the foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life of for people in Southwestern Oregon by focusing on youth and families.
“Strengthening family, furthering education, feeding hungry people are all goals of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation. “It’s simple language that when implemented, creates improved lives and better community. For 20 years that’s what the Foundation has done. It improves lives and betters community.”
Since 1997, the Foundation has awarded more than $16.4 million in grants to nonprofit organizations.
Mary’s Place is a program of Saving Grace, a Central Oregon nonprofit that offers safety, hope, and healing to all survivors of relationship abuse and sexual assault and engages the community to promote the value of life without violence.
