COCC board to decide on Cascades Hall remodeling plans

KTVZ

A special meeting of the Central Oregon Community College’s board of directors on Monday for it to fulfill its extended role as the college’s local contract review board. They will decide on the procurement of multiple renovation contracts lined out for one related project: remodeling Cascades Hall, formerly home to OSU-Cascades.

The meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Boyle Education Center’s board room, with some members expected to join via conference call.

Serving as the college’s local contract review board (in accordance with ORS 279A.060), the COCC board is expected to approve the intention of moving forward with seeking three contracts for Cascades Hall renovation work.

The cumulative awarding of several contracts within one fiscal year, with values less than $100,000, rather than pursuing a larger, sealed-bid contract for one project requires that the college submit its findings to its local contract review board.

Formerly home to OSU-Cascades on the COCC campus, Cascades Hall has been vacant for almost a year and is slated to house academic and administrative units beginning this fall.

College funds have been budgeted for these procurements.

Renovations will be divided into three contracts: one large contract to handle renovation work, a single contract for painting in areas of the building not being renovated and a single contract to cover flooring in the non-renovation areas.
