Pair in Prineville-area police chase caught on dashcam

Prineville police and Crook County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man and woman who refused to stop in a pickup truck leaving an area of a possible burglary in progress late Thursday night, posting dashcam video of the encounter that triggered a high-speed pursuit.

Police and deputies responded just after 11 p.m. to the reported possible burglary in progress at a business in the 11300 block of Southeast Juniper Canyon Road, said police Capt. Larry Seymour.

Arriving units found a pickup truck trying to leave the area and tried to stop it, Seymour said. As the video posted to the Prineville police Facebook page shows, the male driver stopped at first, but refused repeated commands to turn off the engine of the Dodge Ram 2500 pickup and sped away.

The driver headed south on Juniper Canyon Road at speeds up to 80 mph, Seymour said. The pursuit lasted for about two miles, until discontinued by police Sgt. Mark Monroe on an unnamed access road not suitable for most vehicles.

The two agencies are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man and woman, both “subjects of an ongoing criminal investigation involving multiple crimes,” Seymour said in a news release.

Any information about the truck or two occupants can be provided to Monroe or to Crook County sheriff’s Deputy Jake Childers. Seymour said they can also be received on Facebook and by private message, leaving contact information or remaining anonymous.
