Family Access Network announces $7,500 grant
The Family Access Network (FAN) Foundation announced Wednesday it has received a generous $7,500 donation from The Bill Healy Foundation to help connect families to basic-need services at Terrebonne Community School.
These funds will directly serve the most needy children and families in Terrebonne. The FAN advocate will work with students throughout the school year to ensure that each child has the essentials to thrive in school and in life.
These basic needs are often seasonal, like adequate clothing and school supplies at the beginning of the school year, with winter coats, snow boots, and heating assistance being the highest winter needs. Other essential needs like nutritious food, comprehensive health and dental care, and a safe place to sleep are ongoing and are addressed throughout the year.
“We are extremely grateful for the generous support from The Bill Healy Foundation. These grant funds will help children and families in Terrebonne, who are living in rural poverty or experiencing homelessness, so that children thrive in school,” Julie Lyche, executive director of FAN.
The Bill Healy Foundation is committed to responsible grant making through thoughtful choices, recognizing the fragile interdependence between the environment and human beings. The foundation has two points of focus: environmental conservation and the well being of children.
Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in January 1993 and currently employs 25 advocates in 52 public school (K-12) and early childhood sites to efficiently reach and connect disadvantaged children and families to critical basic-need services such as: food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and more. FAN’s mission is to improve lives by ensuring that all children in Deschutes and Crook Counties have access to basic-need services.
