Nena Springs Fire evacuation levels lowered
Nearly two weeks after it broke out — and days after a new surge threatened many homes — the more than 68,000-acre Nena Springs Fire on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation is 60 percent contained, and all evacuation notices have been reduced to Level 1 (Get Ready), officials said Sunday.
“This means residents in the Charley Canyon, Webster Flat Road, South Junction, Culpus Bridge, and Wolf Point subdivisions are now able to come and go freely without concern,” the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Fire Management announced Sunday on its Facebook page.
” It also means they should be ‘ready’ to go if something were to change,” the announcement continued, noting that the Red Cross shelter at the Warm Springs Community Center has closed.
