(Update: Hwy. 361 reopens)

A two-vehicle, serious-injury crash Sunday morning blocked state Highway 361 (the Culver Highway) at Bear Drive, between Madras and Metolius, for about 45 minutes, authorities said.

Oregon State Police Captain Bill Fugate said the crash was reported around 10:30 a.m. He said initial reports from first responders indicated a vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign on Bear Drive and collided with another vehicle, leaving one on its top.

Numerous ambulances and both AirLink and Life Flight helicopters were called to the scene, with two patients flown to St. Charles Bend, Fugate said.

There were no detours in place, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said.
