Update: Prineville stabbing, robbery suspect turns self in

A 22-year-old Prineville man sought on charges of stabbing another man in the hand and stealing his backpack early Wednesday morning turned himself in after police asked the public for help finding him.
Dustin Scott Collins contacted Prineville police shortly after noon and was taken into custody without incident, said police Sgt. Troy Wiles. He was booked into the Crook County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree theft.
Police and Crook County sheriff’s deputies responded about 3:20 a.m. to the reported stabbing near Northwest 10 th and Main streets, said police Sgt. James Peterson.
A 24-year-old Prineville man reported that Collins got out of a vehicle and during a confrontation stabbed him in the hand, Peterson said. The victim said Collins stole his backpack and left the area in a vehicle driven by an unknown female, possibly in her 20s.
The victim declined medical transport for the small stab wound to his hand and was taken to St. Charles Prineville in a personal vehicle, the sergeant said.
Wiles said later the female driver was located and identified. He also said police thank the community and those using social media for their assistance.
