Assessor’s office to conduct Deschutes River Woods reappraisals

KTVZ

Starting this week, appraisers from the Deschutes County Assessor’s office will be conducting a reappraisal of all homes in Deschutes River Woods. The reappraisals are expected to continue through fall of 2017.

Due to the number of reappraisals that will be conducted, appraisers will not be contacting property owners to schedule appointments.

Appraisers will be driving county-issued vehicles and will have identification and business cards. Property owners can expect staff to knock on the door and verify property characteristics, including: condition, room count, square footage of living space, concrete, decks and outbuildings.

The State of Oregon requires each county’s Assessor’s Office to conduct appraisals to ensure that property records are accurate. A property value can increase or decrease based on a number of factors such as quality and condition. If the Assessor’s real market value does not change with the market, some people could pay too much in property taxes, while others could pay too little.

If you have questions about the Deschutes River Woods reappraisal, please call the Deschutes County Assessor’s Office at 541-388-6508.
