Remains found near Portland may tie to 2012 murder
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say hunters have found human remains on forest land northwest of Portland that detectives are investigating in connection with the 2012 murder of Theresa Fonsman.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says on Friday morning deputies responded to a report that two hunters had found the remains north of North Plains.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office detectives, forensics technicians and the Washington County Medical Examiner responded and assisted in processing the scene.
The sheriff’s office says based on initial investigation the human remains are that of an adult and have been there for an extended period of time.
The sheriff’s office says the suspect in that case, Robert Hardison, has not been seen since the incident and he remains wanted for aggravated homicide.
DNA evidence will be submitted to the Oregon State Crime Lab for testing and results will be released when available.
