A Prineville man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing power tools at the Sears Hometown store.

According to Prineville police, Ryan D. Ames, 36, was in the store Wednesday night and focused on the Dewalt Power tools.

Store owner Heidi Wood told NewsChannel 21 on Thursday she upgraded her security system after her store was burglarized earlier this month.

The person who broke into her store took several items, and she was out $25,000.

Ames allegedly stole a power tool and took off, but surveillance video captured him taking the items, Wood said.

Ames was arrested at his home in Prineville and the tools were recovered, according to officers.

Police told NewsChannel 21 they don’t believe Ames was involved in the burglary earlier this month.

They said Ames was charged with second-degree theft and was booked into the Crook County Jail.
