Ruffwear donates $20,000 to 3 C.O. animal shelters

Ruffwear, a Bend-based company that makes outdoor gear for dogs and their human companions, is donating more than $20,000 to three Central Oregon nonprofit animal shelters.

The funds were raised through Ruffwear’s Warehouse Sale in Bend on Friday, November 17. More than 600 people turned out to find deals on samples, discontinued styles and gently used demo gear, ranging from collars to boots to apparel. More than 2,400 items were sold.

Proceeds from the sale are being split among three organizations: Brightside Animal Shelter in Redmond, Humane Society of the Ochocos in Prineville and Three Rivers Humane Society in Madras.

The donation, says Ruffwear President Will Blount, stems from the company’s beliefs in partnering with organizations that support effective adoption campaigns and that all dogs should have active, loving homes.

“We were thrilled by the turnout for the sale,” Blount says. “We sold the vast majority of the gear available. We’re pleased to be able to support the important work of these three nonprofits.”
