Redmond Proficiency Academy students support Chamber’s Giving Tree

KTVZ

Redmond Proficiency Academy middle school students have been collecting donations to support the Redmond Chamber of Commerce Giving Tree. A Redmond Chamber of Commerce tradition, the Giving Tree provides a conduit through which members of the Redmond community can help provide gifts, clothing, and shoes to approximately 150 children and 75 families.

This is the fifth year that RPA middle school students have supported the Giving Tree. Each student’s goal is to raise $15 by December 15, making the school’s total goal $4,500. Students have been working on fundraising through classroom competitions as well as sending letters to local businesses.

Giving Tree Coordinator and RPA Leadership Advisor Kal Middaugh said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to give back and exciting to see them learn the importance of community service and helping others.”

On Friday, December 15, students will board school buses and travel to retailers Walmart and Fred Meyer to purchase gifts for the Giving Tree with the funds raised. After students have made their purchases, they will deliver the gifts in person at 11:15 a.m. to the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB, 446 SW 7th Street, Redmond, Oregon. For more information or to donate, contact Kal Middaugh at 541.699.8408.
