Desert Sky Montessori reaches goal on Giving Tuesday
Desert Sky Montessori, a 501c3 public elementary charter school in Bend, has reached its goal of raising $10,000 for its first Annual Giving Campaign.
On November 28, #GivingTuesday once again inspired each of us to give to the many organizations that positively impact our community–like Desert Sky Montessori.
Desert Sky Montessori currently serves over 100 children in grades K – 3 and is the first tuition-free Montessori elementary school in Central Oregon.
Through the generosity of the community and the #GivingTuesday initiative Desert Sky was able to reach its goal of $10,000, which will fund planned facility improvements and expanding the school to grade 4 for the 2018 – 2019 school year.
After visiting the school’s online fundraising website (https://desertsky.mydagsite.com/) , Shelly Phillips, President of the Board of Directors commented,
“I just have to say that the sweet messages everyone has written on the donation page are bringing tears to my eyes. The board and staff have worked so hard to provide this [tuition-free Montessori elementary education] opportunity to our community and hearing about the positive impact it is having on your kids is just the best news ever. THANK YOU for being a part of our wonderful school and community. Wow, I’m overwhelmed with emotion and feeling so grateful!”
Tax deductible donations can still be made online to the Desert Sky Annual Giving Campaign through December 22, 2017 at https://desertsky.mydagsite.com/
With the success of the #GivingTuesday campaign, the school administrators and Board of Directors have agreed to spend any amount over the original $10,000 goal directly on improving and building out the school playground. They are now hoping to raise a total of $13,000 before the holiday break begins on Friday, December 22.
