Healthy Beginnings welcomes new board members, officers
Healthy Beginnings, a Central Oregon nonprofit that provides free health screenings and referrals for young children with the goal of ensuring they enter kindergarten ready to succeed, has announced the election of key leadership positions and welcomes two new members to the Board of Directors.
Bridget McGinn , Marketing Director at Bluefish Dental & Orthodontics, moves from the Vice President position to the President of the Board. She succeeds Jennifer Moss-Lewis, Vice President, Medicare Programs at PacificSource Health Plans, who will continue to serve on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past President. Arden Dettwyler , Assistant Vice President at Umpqua Bank, will serve as Vice President; Norm Rush, Director of Finance at Made In Nature, was elected Treasurer; and Mari Enders, Clinic Manager at Mosaic Medical was elected Secretary.
Healthy Beginnings welcomes Angela Chisum , Co-Owner of Celtic Lands, LLC to the Board of Directors. Chisum is an entrepreneur, children’s advocate and mother of two. She enjoys volunteering in the classroom and serves as a substitute educational assistant for the Bend-La Pine School District.
“As the mother of a child with ADHD, I understand how important early screenings can be,” said Chisum . “My child easily could have fallen through the cracks and had many more issues had we not caught it early. What a gift to be able to identify these children before they start elementary school, in hopes of avoiding so many potential problems down the road. I am honored to be part of this organization.”
David Burke, Assistant Superintendent at the High Desert Education Service District, also joins the Board of Directors as a non-voting, ex-officio member. Burke serves as an important liaison between Healthy Beginnings and the HDESD , with whom Healthy Beginnings has a Memorandum of Understanding. Burke succeeds long-serving representative Paul Andrews, Superintendent at the HDESD .
“It is clear to me that Healthy Beginnings has a strong foundation upon which to expand and strengthen. We are grateful to our Board of Directors for their commitment and support as we adjust to the needs of our expanding community,” said Diane Murray-Fleck, executive director of the organization. “We are truly fortunate to have such a long history–more than 20 years–of community support and dedication to our mission. During this time of transition, it is exciting to imagine how we can continue to grow together along with our community.”
