Portland police seek man in fatal stabbing of father

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in Portland are searching for a 30-year-old man police say fatally stabbed his 64-year-old father Saturday morning.
The Portland Police Department says a warrant has been issued for Tyler Nees. He’s described as 6 feet tall, 190 pounds with blues eyes and short red hair.
Police say Tyler Nees stabbed 64-year-old Brian Nees at about 2 a.m. Saturday at an apartment. Police say Brian Nees ran for help and died at about 5:45 a.m. after being transported to a hospital.
Authorities say anyone seeing Tyler Nees should not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately.

Homicide detectives have identified a suspect in today’s homicide.
30-year-old Tyler Nees has an active murder warrant in connection with the homicide of his father, 64-year-old Brian Nees.
Tyler Nees is described as a white male, 6’00” tall, 190 pounds, short red hair, and blue eyes.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to Brian Nees’ death.
Anyone seeing Tyler Nees is asked not to approach but to immediately call 9-1-1.

On Saturday December 2, 2017, at 1:55 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the area of Southeast 72nd Avenue and Woodstock Street.
Officers and medical personnel arrived in the area and located a male in his 60s suffering from traumatic injuries. The victim was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment.
Officers learned that the stabbing occurred at a nearby apartment and the victim ran to seek help. Officers conducted an extensive neighborhood search for the suspect but did not locate anyone matching his description. The suspect is believed to be a male in his 30s, 6’00” tall, short hair, possibly wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
At approximately 5:45 a.m., officers were notified that the victim died at the hospital.
Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are at the scene in the early stages of the investigation.
Based on preliminary information, there is not believed to be any immediate danger to neighborhood residents.
