Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM
Happy Thursday evening, everyone!
AN AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF THE HIGH DESERT THROUGH TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12, AT NOON. HIGH PRESSURE OVERHEAD WILL KEEP POLLUTANTS CLOSE TO THE EARTH’S SURFACE, SO AIR QUALITY LEVELS COULD SUFFER DURING THIS TIME.
Freezing fog is likely tonight as our inversion is still in place. Those underneath the fog will see overnight lows in the 20s with daytime highs in the 30s. Those out from under the fog will see cold overnight lows in single digits and teens with daytime highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
Clear skies persist overhead as a ridge of high pressure remains. A few clouds will filter in by Friday and Saturday as a weak disturbance moves onshore.
Snow is not expected for the mountains anytime soon, but there are still spots of ice across the passes. Keep in mind as you’re traveling there could also be some freezing fog in areas in low lying elevations, over bodies of water, and valleys.
