Prineville man jailed; 40-plus stolen auto parts recovered

A Prineville man was arrested Wednesday in a raid on his home that turned up more than 40 items believed to be stolen from a downtown auto parts store, some installed on his pickup, police said.

Police, assisted by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant around 9 a.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Northwest Second Street, Captain Larry Seymour said.

The raid resulted from a series of reported thefts over the past few months at the downtown business, which Seymour declined to identify.

Ryan Ames, 36, was taken into custody on charges of first-degree theft, second-degree forgery and identity theft, Seymour said,

Dozens of suspected stolen items were recovered, along with suspected heroin and methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Ames’ Ford F-250 was seized, as the pickup had several of the stolen items installed in it and was used in the commission of the crimes, Seymour said. The value of the recovered property was estimated at about $5,000.

Ames was taken to the county jail, where he was held on $15,000 bail.

Seymour said the business name and other information was not being released because police were still conducting some follow-up in the case.
