Fire destroys Culver-area garage, damages manufactured home

KTVZ

A fire early Saturday morning destroyed a Culver-area detached garage and damaged an unoccupied manufactured home, but no one was injured and firefighters shuttling water to the scene kept it from reaching an adjacent house, officials said.

Jefferson County Fire District No. 1 crews were called around 4 a.m. to the fire in the 2100 block of Southwest Jericho Lane, east of Highway 97 and west of Haystack Reservoir.

The first arriving unit found a detached garage fully involved and the unoccupied manufactured home with flames showing through the roof and front windows, fire Captain Kasey Skaar said.

All of the occupants were out of an adjacent house and uninjured, he said.

Crews protected exposures and attacked the fire, Skaar said, but because there were no nearby fire hydrants, two water tenders shuttled water to the scene.

After a quick knockdown of the fire, crews were on scene for 4 1/2 hours conducting salvage and overhaul, confirming the fire was extinguished and conducting a preliminary investigation. The cause of the fire was under investigation, Skaar said.

Crews were assisted on scene by an engine from Crooked Rover Ranch Fire and Rescue and an ambulance from Jefferson County EMS, as well as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
