No. 17 Oregon State women beat UC Santa Barbara 74-49
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Aleah Goodman had 17 points for No. 17 Oregon State in a 74-49 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday in the Dam City Classic at Portland’s Moda Center.
It was the fifth straight win for the Beavers (7-2), who got 14 points from Kat Tudor. Oregon State’s last loss came against then-No. 16 Duke on Nov. 25.
Tal Sahar led the Gauchos with 11 points and seven rebounds.
UCSB (1-8) has an eight-game losing streak after winning its opener at Northern Arizona. The Gauchos had not played since Dec. 3 because of the Thomas Fire. Poor air quality forced the team to postpone a scheduled home game with Loyola Marymount on Dec. 7. It has been rescheduled for Monday afternoon.
Oregon State, which won the Pac-12 regular season title and went to the Sweet Sixteen last season, had 23 assists. The Beavers led the Pac-12 with an average of 23.80 assists going into the game.
The event was a double-header with Oregon State’s men’s team, who played Saint Louis in the later game. It was the first time the women’s team had played on the Portland Trail Blazers’ home court.
It was the seventh meeting between the two teams. UCSB leads the series 4-3.
The Beavers host UC Davis on Wednesday before the Pac-12 season opens at home against Washington on Dec. 29.
After LMU, the Gauchos host San Diego State on Friday.
