DCSO: Bend woman sold heroin at retirement center

A 30-year-old Bend woman was arraigned this week on heroin possession and delivery charges, accused of selling heroin from a northeast Bend retirement center, authorities said.

Detectives with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit received information late last month that heroin sales were occurring at the pilot Butte Retirement Center on Northeast 27th Street, sheriff’s Sgt. William Bailey said Thursday.

Detectives identified Patricia Trapman as the suspect in those sales, Bailey said.

Detectives spent the next several days investigating the case and obtained a search warrant for an apartment in the retirement facility where Trapman was living with her mother-in-law.

The raid took place on Dec. 6 and Trapman was taken into custody, arrested and booked into the county jail. Evidence seized at the scene included syringes, digital scales and a small amount of heroin, Bailey said.

Trapman remained held without bail Thursday on parole and probation violation warrants, as well as the heroin charges. She was arraigned Monday and a plea hearing was set for Jan. 8.

Court records showed Trapman was arrested in August on charges of DUII, driving with a suspended license and heroin possession. She pleaded guilty to the DUII and heroin charges and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, lifetime driver’s license revocation and probation with conditions including no use of alcohol or drugs, and completion of a substance abuse treatment program.

The sheriff’s office Street Crimes Unit focuses on street-level drug quests and quality of life issues connected to property crimes, Bailey said.
