Fire destroys vacant home in N. Klamath County

KTVZ

A vacant, unoccupied home was destroyed by a fire Friday night south of La Pine in northern Klamath County, but Crescent firefighters, helped by other agencies, prevented the flames from reaching any other structures, officials said.

The fire was reported to the Crescent Rural Fire Protection District shortly before 8 p.m. Friday in the 147000 block of Highway 97, about eight mils south of La Pine officials said. The location was in the old Jack Pine RV park, across from the highway from Jack Pine Village.

The first fire crews to arrive found the residence fully involved and began efforts to put out the blaze and protect a nearby home.

A total of four career and 14 volunteer personnel were called to the scene, using four engines and seven water tenders to extinguish the fire. Mutual-aid assistance was provided by Central Cascades Fire and EMS, the Walker Range Fire Patrol, Chemult RFPD, Outback Fire and La Pine RFPD.

The exact cause of the fire was under investigation.
