Klamath Falls man pleads guilty in shooting death
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – A Klamath Falls resident has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon in the killing of a 22-year-old man.
The Herald and News reports Daryl Hatchard accepted the plea agreement last week – 10 days before he was scheduled to stand trial for murder. He faces between 10 and 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 23.
The 33-year-old Hatchard was at home when he shot Kameron Stewart in June 2016. At least two witnesses in the house at the time were expected to testify at Hatchard’s trial.
Stewart’s death occurred during a violent period in Klamath County. Twelve homicides were reported between December 2015 and January of 2017.
