Local Alert Weather – Wed. AM
Happy Wednesday morning, everyone!
We are starting the day with dry conditions and mostly cloudy skies overhead. Some areas of patchy fog are likely in low lying elevations, valleys, and canyons. A warm front this morning will give us highs in the low to mid 50s for today for Central Oregon. Winds will be out of the south around 25 miles per hour through the afternoon, so expect it to be breezy at times.
Tonight a cold front will sweep through the region and temperatures will fall behind the passing. The chance for rain showers develops around 10 p.m. and continuing through tomorrow. Lows will be mild in the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s. Winds tonight will be out of the south around 15 to 25 miles per hour.
Snow levels will fall from 7,600′ tonight to 4,400′ tomorrow morning. By Thursday night snow levels will be around 3,100′. Mt. Bachelor will begin to accumulate snow overnight with snow showers throughout the day tomorrow. By the end of the day Thursday, ski resorts can expect 6″ of fresh snow.
Mountain passes can expect snow over the next few days, so if you are traveling across the Cascades know there will likely be snow on the roadways and you should plan on winter driving conditions.
For Thursday Central Oregon will see rain showers off and on with snow showers for higher elevations. Know that roads could be slippery if you encounter a snow shower. Highs will be cooler than they will be for Wednesday — topping out in the low to mid 40s.
