Bank grants $10,000 to Deschutes United Way initiative

First Interstate Bank Foundation has awarded United Way of Deschutes County a $10,000 grant in support of the nonprofit’s current initiative called TRACES (Trauma, Resilience, and Adverse Childhood Experiences).

The initiative is a community-wide effort involving over 30 local government entities, nonprofit organizations, and community members, and is led by United Way. The goal is to dramatically improve health and well-being in Central Oregon by building resilience in individuals, families, and our community, and by addressing childhood trauma and toxic stress, problems that lie at the root of many of our region’s most complex health and social issues so that everyone in Central Oregon thrives.

The First Interstate Bank Foundation Leadership Grant was awarded in coordination with local branch leadership based on the needs of our community. This grant will help individuals and families better overcome adverse situations and achieve positive outcomes, leading to better health, greater educational attainment, and improved work and financial success through TRACES. The initiative will also focus on policy, legislation, organizational practices, promoting trauma-informed care, promoting community awareness, and strengthening community members’ skills.
