A 54-year-old northwest Bend man was arrested on various drug charges late last week in a raid on his Hartford Avenue home that turned up more than three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine, as well as other drugs, authorities said Tuesday.

The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team recently began investigating meth distribution in Bend and identified the supply source as Michael Jewett, CODE Team Lt. Nick Parker said.

Around 10 p.m. last Thursday, the CODE Team served a search warrant at Jewett’s home, in the 1200 block of Northwest Hartford Avenue, Parker said.

Officers encountered Jewett in the home and detained him without incident. He was taken to the Deschutes County Jail on charges of meth possession, delivery and manufacture, as well as fentanyl possession.

Investigators also seized user amounts of heroin, unknown pills and powders, a digital scale packaging material and cash, Parker said.

Another man and woman also were contacted during the raid. While they were not arrested that night, Parker said their alleged criminal involvement is being referred to the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office for consideration.

Jail officers said Jewett was booked into the jail early Friday and released later that day after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail. He is due for arraignment on Feb. 8.

Court records show Jewett also is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 1 on a reckless driving charge from May of last year.

Oregon State Police and Bend police officers provided valuable assistance to the CODE Team during the operation, Parker said.
