Crash that tied up Bend Parkway traffic cleared

KTVZ

A crash blocked the southbound lanes of the Bend Parkway and slowed northbound lanes as well for a time Thursday morning as snow showers and more blustery winds moved through the area.

Deschutes County 911 reported that Bend police and fire, Oregon State Police and ODOT were arriving at the scene of the crash, reported shortly after 8 a.m. blocking the southbound right-hand (slow) lane of the parkway south of Hawthorne Avenue.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible, as others reported slick conditions with temperatures just below freezing. Other slide-offs were reported in the area, one near the parkway’s Revere Avenue exit.

A single-vehicle crash possibly related to a medical condition was reported to have closed westbound Reed Market Road near Orion Lane and 27th Street.

Early-morning snow eased as the sun came out amid winds gusting past 30 mph.

NewsChannel 21’s Emily Kirk said the chance of snow showers lingers through Friday, before a warm front approaches by the weekend.
