(Update: Detectives determine assault was ‘isolated incident,’ victim not cooperating)

Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said Monday that detectives have determined a reported assault last week northeast of Redmond was an isolated incident involving people known by the victim, who is not cooperating with the investigation.

Deputies said they came to the conclusion after further interviews in the case. As a result, “we do not anticipate releasing any further information regarding this incident,” Lt. Chad Davis said.

Deputies were dispatched around 3 a.m. last Tuesday to the reported assault in the 1800 block of Northeast Maple Avenue, near the High Desert Sports Complex, Davis of the sheriff’s office Detective Division had said in a news release Friday.

The 30-year-old Redmond man, whose name was withheld for safety reasons, was taken by medics to St. Charles Redmond for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital the next day.

Davis said no suspects were found in an extensive search of the area.

An investigation determined the man was assaulted by more than one person.

While sheriff’s detectives identified the case as an assault, Davis said Friday that “there is no risk to the safety of the public.”
