Bend-La Pine Schools invites students, staff and families to share their love for their school bus and driver during a Love the Bus effort on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14, as part of the national American School Bus Council campaign.

“We invite students and staff members to write a thank you note or draw a picture for bus drivers and show how they Love the Bus this year,” said Kim Crabtree, Director of Transportation. “This gesture will mean so much to our drivers, who give so much to our students and schools.”

Our transportation department includes more than 70 regular route drivers, 25 special programs drivers and 12 bus monitors. Last year, our drivers covered more than 1.7 million miles. The transportation staff members also participated in more than 960 educational class hours last year.

“Our bus drivers help students start and end the school day on a positive note,” said Crabtree. “These staff members begin their days before the sun is up and drive to the furthest corners of our school district to provide safe, reliable transportation to thousands of students each day.”
