Volunteers in Medicine receives grants for patient care
Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades announced Tuesday the recent award of $113,359 in grant funding. These grants will sponsor the medical care and prescriptions for uninsured, low-income adults for one year, and will support the development of patient education materials and quality improvement processes to manage health outcomes for immigrant patients with chronic diseases.
“We are honored that Meyer Memorial Trust, PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement, The Chambers Family Foundation, The Roundhouse Foundation, and The Autzen Foundation continue to believe in the mission of VIM and invest in the clinic,” said Kat Mastrangelo, executive director at VIM.
“Most of the patients that come to VIM have multiple chronic conditions that could have been prevented with timely and consistent access to medical care. This is what VIM provides – a safe place to receive necessary care,” Mastrangelo said.
VIM Clinic of the Cascades was established in 2001 and opened its doors to patients in its current location at 2300 NE Neff Road in Bend in 2004. VIM provides free medical, mental health, vision and prescription drug care for low-income, working adults over the age of 19, who live or work in Deschutes, Crook or Jefferson county.
