Upcoming key dates for Bend-La Pine Schools families

During the coming months, Bend-La Pine Schools families and students will have the opportunity to learn about many schools and programs throughout the district and, in some cases, to apply for specific options.

The following key dates offer families information about the opportunities available to students at Bend-La Pine Schools 31 schools including:

Attendance Area Change Requests (applications due March 1) Choice Options (applications due March 23) Inter-District Transfers (contact your home district for specifics) Kindergarten Round-ups (events taking place April 25) Middle and High School Information Nights (events in February and March)

Attendance Area Change Requests

Bend-La Pine Schools’ families may opt to send students to schools other than their neighborhood school. This option allows families to select a school that is convenient for transportation or to access a specific program available at a neighborhood school outside of their attendance area. Families must submit an Attendance Area Change Request. Download an application and learn more about this policy .

Please note: Bend Senior High School will only consider an Attendance Area Change Request for incoming ninth grade students. Incoming 11th grade students who wish to participate in Bend Senior High’s Full Diploma International Baccalaureate Program will also be considered. High Desert Middle School will only consider an Attendance Area Change Request for incoming students who are participating in the Spanish Dual Immersion Program.

Applications are due March 1 for current students. Applications are due May 1 for incoming kindergarten students.

Choice option dates and information

Bend-La Pine Schools offers several school choice options for families. These schools all feature learning opportunities that are significantly different from our traditional programs and offer families choices to fit a variety of learning styles, student needs and interests. Parent information nights and tours are currently underway. Check with schools for details or visit our Choice Options website.

Amity Creek Magnet at Thompson School (K-5) Bend International School Charter School (K-8) Desert Sky Montessori Charter School (K-3) Highland Magnet at Kenwood School (K-5) Juniper Elementary School (K-5) Realms Middle School (grades 6-8) Realms High School (grades 9-10) Skyline High School (grades 9-10) Spanish Dual Immersion Program (at Bear Creek Elementary School and High Desert Middle School ) (K-8) Westside Village Magnet at Kingston School (K-8)

Those wishing to enroll must submit an Choice Options Enrollment Request Form .

Applications are due March 23 at 3 p.m.

Inter-District Transfers

Families who live outside of Bend-La Pine Schools attendance area and want to transfer into a school within Bend-La Pine Schools should contact their resident district to begin the transfer process. Families residing within Bend-La Pine Schools who wish to send students to a school outside of the district attendance area must submit an Inter-District Transfer Request. Download an inter-district transfer request form and learn more about the policy.

Applications are due April 1 to be considered for Open Enrollment.

Kindergarten Round-ups

Families of incoming kindergarteners are invited to register for kindergarten at their local schools beginning April 25. Many schools have special events and activities planned for that date. Contact individual schools for hours and event details. To register for kindergarten, students must be 5-years-old prior to Sept. 1, 2018. Kindergarten registration begins April 25.
