La Pine American Legion burglar takes safe, alcohol

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office have released two surveillance images and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a burglary of alcohol, a safe with cash and more early Wednesday morning at the American Legion Post 45 in La Pine.

At about 5:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the American Legion post on Drafter Road regarding a possible burglary of the building, Sgt. William Bailey said.

Arriving deputies found forced entry had been made into the building and items within the building had been taken, including alcohol and a safe with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies worked with American Legion staff to obtain video surveillance of the burglary. Bailey said the sheriff’s office released two still images to the public in the hopes someone can help us identify the suspect.

The suspect can be seen wearing a black stocking hat with white snowflakes, a dark-colored jacket, gray pants with a vertical black stripe and carrying an Easton brand bag. The burglary is believed to have occurred around 4:20 a.m., based on video surveillance.
