Local Alert Weather, Wed. AM, 2.28.18

KTVZ

Good Wednesday Morning, Everyone…
The first signs of the next major winter storm will make themselves known to the High Desert today. Mostly cloudy skies will thicken and deliver some afternoon rain showers. Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s and southerly breezes will pick up to 5-15 mph.
Those southerly breezes will get gusty tonight. As lows drop back into the 20’s showers will turn to snow with some areas collecting 2-4″ by morning.
While this will produce mixed showers for Central Oregon over the next couple days this will be a major winter storm for the Cascades. Expect to see one to two feet of snow to be added to mountains regions between now and Friday night. This is great news for the resorts, but be aware of the fact that driving conditions in and near the Cascade passes will worsen quickly beginning this afternoon. This storm will break up as we are coming out of the weekend. Temps will warm modestly, but stay below average into next week.
HAVE A SPARKLING DAY IN CENTRAL OREGON!
