Local Alert Weather – Wed. PM
Happy Wednesday evening, everyone!
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for the areas of Sunriver, La Pine, Deschutes River Woods, and Sisters. Snow will accumulate by this evening and tomorrow morning on the roadways, so know surfaces will be slick or icy!
A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for most of Crook County EXCLUDING Prineville. Snow will accumulate in higher elevations and we could see strong winds, which would create blizzard-like conditions at times.
Central Oregon will see mixed showers changing over to snow showers by tomorrow morning for most areas. Most of the snow will fall tonight, so tomorrow will start with partly cloudy skies. Overnight winds will be gusty at times out of the south around 35 miles per hour. Lows will be above average in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Thursday will start with some snow on the ground in higher elevations and the Bend area could pick up some snow as well. Winds will be breezy again as the cold front makes its way through the region. Snow showers are likely to pick up around the afternoon, but will become scattered in the evening. Highs for Thursday will reach the upper 30s and lower 40s.
The Cascades and mountain passes can expect packed snow on the surfaces heading into the weekend. Be prepared with chains or traction tires and allow yourself extra time to travel. Mt. Bachelor will see 6-8″ of snow on the ground by Thursday morning.
Friday is left with a few scattered showers as the system wraps up. Highs will be similar in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
