Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM
Happy Thursday evening, everyone!
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY remains in effect for most of Deschutes County and the east slopes of the Cascades. Additional snow is expected on roadways, so keep in mind surfaces will be slippery. Overnight lows will be in the teens and 20s. Winds will be out of the south around 10 to 15 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy skies will be overhead apart from the chance for some scattered snow showers.
Snow levels will be below 2,000′ through the end of the weekend, so any showers we see would be in the form of snow above that elevation. Mt. Bachelor will see 3-5″ of snow on the ground by tomorrow morning. The mountain passes will have times of packed snow, spots of ice, and bare pavement. Be prepared for winter driving conditions for the first half of the weekend.
As the area of low pressures exits the area down to the south, Central Oregon will see calmer conditions. For Friday we can expect breezy winds at times out of the south around 30 miles per hour. A few snow showers are likely in the afternoon. Other than the chance for showers we will see partly cloudy skies. Daytime highs will be in the upper 30s and low to mid 40s.
The weekend begins on a dry note with mostly cloudy skies. Partly cloudy skies will be overhead at times. Highs will be chilly Saturday and Sunday topping out in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
Monday will see more sunshine than what we will see for Sunday. Temperatures will gradually warm through the week, and by the middle of next week we will be back to average in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
