Prineville woman injured in crash north of Redmond

A Prineville woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries late Wednesday afternoon when her SUV left a road north of Redmond, went through a fence and struck a power pole, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies and Redmond Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched shortly before 4:30 p.m. to the single-vehicle crash in the 3600 block of Northwest 10th Street, just north of the city limits, sheriff’s Lt. Mike Biondi said in a news release.

The reporting party said a Jeep had struck a power pole. Biondi said deputies found the gray 2005 Jeep Cherokee had hit the pole and gone partly into a ditch after going through a fence, Biondi said.

An investigation revealed Bonnie Foster, 69, was heading north on 10th Street when she lost control of the SUV for unknown reasons and left the roadway.

Paramedics took her to St. Charles Bend with non-life-threatening injuries, Biondi said. The crash and investigation blocked or limited 10th Street to one lane for about 45 minutes.

“Fatigue is believed to be a factor in this crash, but speed is not,” Biondi said.

Central Electric Cooperative crews were called out to inspect the power pole but found it had very minimal damage, Biondi added.
