Corvallis man gets prison for federal wire fraud

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Corvallis man was sentenced to 18 months in prison for using his management position to approve invoices from companies with which he had a personal association.

The register-Guard reports 50-year-old Matthew Linderman was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Eugene after pleading guilty to charges of wire fraud and filing a false federal income tax return.

Linderman was also ordered to pay more than $1.7 million in restitution.

According to court records, Linderman was a manager at Trimble Forestry Automation.

Federal officials say Linderman would authorize company expenditures and would receive kickbacks on vendor payments. The kickbacks would go to companies he owned.

Officials say Linderman also approved more than $2.2 million in payments to two vendors owned by a personal friend.
