Ten $1,000 scholarships are available for graduating Latino students in Bend-La Pine public schools this spring through a collaboration with the Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools and the Oregon Community Foundation.

The Central Oregon Latino Scholarship Fund was created as a project of OCF’s Latino Partnership Program. The local program committee, led by Evelia Sandoval, invites community members to join them in learning more about Latino mentorship opportunities and growing the scholarship fund to ensure this valuable resource for future Latino students.

Cheryl Puddy, Program Officer for the Oregon Community Foundation’s Bend office, says, “a big thank you to local OCF donors who provided initial funding and to our partnership with the Education Foundation for Bend-LaPine Schools. Together we are helping create a lasting impression on the lives of Central Oregonian students.”

The Education Foundation, recognizing 30 years of service to the Bend-La Pine and Sunriver K-12 educational community in 2018, provides financial resources and tools to teachers that benefit over 18,500 students and 2000 educators within the Bend-La Pine school district. “We are honored to present the Latino scholarship opportunity to our graduating seniors in Bend-La Pine public schools this year and support their educational or career dreams and aspirations. ” said Michelle Johnson, Executive Director.
