Bend Spay+Neuter Project receives $12K grant

KTVZ

The Bend Spay+Neuter Project, a local nonprofit committed to providing affordable and free preventative veterinary services for cats and dogs, has received grant funding from the Banfield Foundation ®. The foundation provided the Central Oregon organization more than $12,000 to purchase new equipment for its spay and neuter surgery clinic.

“Since 2005 we have performed over 50,000 spay/neuter surgeries, and one of our surgical tables is as old as the clinic, so it’s nice to be able to have some new equipment to help us fulfill our mission to end pet homelessness here in Central Oregon,” said Megan Gram, executive director for the organization. “We are so thankful that the Banfield Foundation, with which we share a close mission of helping pets and people, awarded us these funds.”

The new equipment is currently being purchased by the clinic and includes a new surgery table, new cat kennels to allow us to provide more comfortable space for our feline patients, a new exam light to help our prep team, and a new anesthesia machine to enable our team to provide spay/neuter services for larger patients.

The Banfield Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded on the belief that all pets deserve access to veterinary care, regardless of their circumstances. The foundation funds programs, such as the Bend Spay and Neuter Project, that enable veterinary care and elevate the power of the human-animal bond.
