Wash. man killed in Hwy. 140E crash near Bly

A 35-year-old Washington state man was killed and a teen passenger injured Saturday evening when their car left Oregon Highway 140E in Klamath County and rolled several times, Oregon State Police reported.

OSP and emergency workers responded around 6:30 p.m. to the reported fatal single-vehicle crash on the highway near Bly, Lt. Cari Boyd said in a news release Sunday.

A preliminary investigation found that Timothy J. Morris, 35, of Kennewick, Wash., was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, heading east on the highway, when it left the road and flipped several times, Boyd said. The car came to rest about 40 feet north of the westbound lane.

Morris was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 15-year-old girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, Boyd said.

Alcohol and seat belt use are being investigated as possible contributing factors in the crash, the lieutenant added.

OSP was assisted at the crash scene by the Bly Fire Department. The crash and investigation closed the highway for about two hours.
