Gunshots hit SW Redmond home, spark questions

KTVZ

Police are asking for help in identifying who shot into an unoccupied home in southwest Redmond on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, concerned neighbors are waiting for answers.

Police said they received calls about a shooting on Southwest Reindeer Avenue around 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

Photos show several rounds were fired into the back door of a house.

Police who responded were able to make sure no one in the area was in danger, but they have yet to make an arrest in the case.

Lt. Curtis Chambers said Tuesday that no one was in the home at the time of the shooting , and they are working to find out who might have done this.

“We’re working with victims, and our witnesses as well, to best piece together what took place so we can solve this quickly and completely as possible,” Chambers said.

Chambers added that it is against state law to fire a gun within city limits — much less into a residence.

One neighbor said she was at home at the time of the shooting with her two young children.

When police arrived, they asked her and her children to leave their home so they could search it, as they originally believed the shots came from their house.

She said she was pretty shaken up by the event and is now worried about making sure her children are safe.

Chambers said it’s important that neighbors be cautious after this event.

“Well, it’s too early to tell if this was a targeted incident, a random incident or some other set of circumstances that’s yet to be determined,” Chambers said. “We don’t know, and we are trying to sort that out. We don’t have the feeling that other people should be in danger. However, we don’t know conclusively one way or another yet, so that’s why we’re working hard to resolve this.”

This is still an open investigation, and Redmond police encourage you to contact them if you have any information about the shooting.
