Shots fired into SW Redmond townhouse; tips sought

KTVZ

Redmond police asked the public for help Monday in finding whoever fired several gunshots that hit a rear door and siding of a southwest Redmond townhouse late Sunday morning.

Police responded around 11:45 a.m. Sunday to the 1900 block of Southwest Reindeer Avenue after getting several phone calls of several gunshots in quick succession, all within a couple of seconds, Lt. Curtis Chambers said in a news release.

The phone calls led officers to a group of townhouses, where it appeared several shots were fired into the glass window of a rear door and the rear siding of a residence, Chambers said.

Officers worked to secure the scene and ensure the safety of all residents in the area. The emergency phone notification system was used to inform neighbors of the police activity.

An investigation determined no one was home when the rounds were fired, Chambers said. Several spent shell casings, presumably from a semi-automatic weapon, were recovered outside the townhouse.

Chambers said police were continuing their investigation, adding, “It is too early to conclude if this was a targeted incident, random or the result of some other set of circumstances yet to be discovered.”

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact police by calling Deschutes County dispatchers at 541-693-6911.
