2019 Riverhouse Gala to benefit Bend Area Habitat for Humanity
Riverhouse on the Deschutes has selected the Bend affiliate of Habitat for Humanity as its beneficiary for the 2019 Gala. The local nonprofit works with hard-working, low income families to help build them an affordable and safe home. Habitat for Humanity’s goal is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope for those in need.
“We are thrilled to support the Bend affiliate of Habitat for Humanity at next year’s Gala,” said Cindy Hooper, Riverhouse on the Deschutes general manager. “Being in the hospitality industry, we understand how important it is to have a safe and healthy home, wherever you live. We are truly grateful for Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to strengthen the wellbeing of our community.”
Since 1993, the Gala has been the tourism industry’s way of giving back to the local community through a concerted fundraising effort. For each Gala, a new beneficiary is selected to bring awareness and resources to its worthy cause. The event has impacted a wide variety of local organizations, raising more than $2 million for Central Oregon nonprofits.
Over the past 28 years, Bend Area Habitat has built 120 homes and repaired 70 more, providing more than 600 children and adults with secure, stable and healthy homes. Two-thirds of the families served are single mothers and six veteran families have been housed, thanks to Habitat for Humanity. Ultimately, the direct economic impact of their building activity in Bend exceeds $33.6 million.
Riverhouse on the Deschutes will donate the event space, food and beverages, labor and production, enabling 100 percent of ticket sales to go directly to Bend Habitat for Humanity.
