Stuck semi blocks Hwy. 97 near Crescent for hours

KTVZ

A semi-truck driver who took a wrong turn ended up in a ditch, blocking both lanes on Highway 97 in northern Klamath County four miles north of the Highway 58 junction for about three hours on Wednesday.

Oregon State Police and crews from the Oregon Department of Transportation arrived at the scene just before 10 a.m.

According to OSP, the driver left the Gordy’s Truck Stop in La Pine and was heading south, until he realized he was going the wrong way.

The driver, who was from Salt Lake City, tried to turn around and ended up stuck in a ditch.

While the lanes were blocked, crews were able to keep traffic moving by having them go around the semi-truck.

The driver told NewsChannel 21 on scene that he was heading to California and was not injured.

The highway reopened just after 1 p.m.
