Semi triggers Hwy. 20 chain-reaction crash; 1 hurt

A semi-truck driver apparently braked too late and sparked a multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Robal Road on Bend’s north end Friday evening that sent one person to the hospital for observation, police said Saturday.
The crash, involving four or five vehicles, was reported around 4:40 p.m., police still investigating the incident said Saturday.
Police and Bend Fire medics rushed to the scene and the highway was shut in both directions.
Police Lt.. Clint Burleigh said one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Charles Bend for observation. No further details were available Saturday.
ODOT spokesman Peter Murphy said the road reopened before 6 p.m.
