Deschutes County Community Development work plan up for review

The public is invited to provide input on the Deschutes County Community Development Department’s Work Plan for Fiscal Year 2019.

The plan outlines the department’s anticipated projects and goals for the coming year, including:

— Maintaining fast turnaround times for processing permit applications

— Updating the County’s marijuana program

— Completing the Sisters Country Horizons Plan with the City of Sisters, Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council, and community

— Initiating public process to re-evaluate agricultural land designations

— Updating the County’s Transportation System Plan

— Supporting opportunities to provide affordable housing

— Coordinating with the City of Bend to allow new business opportunities at the Bend Airport

— Partnering with the City of Redmond to meet the region’s need for large industrial sites

— Updating the Code Enforcement Policy and Procedures Manual

“Public input makes a significant difference in shaping the department’s work plan each year,” said Community Development Director Nick Lelack. “We encourage residents, businesses and organizations to share to share their thoughts and feedback with us. This is our community’s work plan.”

The Planning Commission will host a public hearing on the work plan on Thursday, April 26 and the Board of County Commissioners will host a public hearing on the work plan on Wednesday, June 6.
