Free Hoodoo lift tickets Friday with food donation
Hoodoo Ski Area in Central Oregon will offer free lift tickets this Friday with a minimum one-item, non-perishable food donation.
The free lift tickets are part of a community service project led by Finney McFarland, the 13-year-old son of Hoodoo’s general manager, Matthew McFarland, and his wife, Tasha. Tasha was Hoodoo’s general manager from 2000-2002 and Matthew has been general manager since 2002. Finney, a 7th grader at Sky View Middle School in Bend, is the second of their four children.
Finney will be in the Hoodoo parking lot at 8 a.m. on Friday personally giving out free lift tickets for food donations, which will benefit NeighborImpact in Redmond, a 21 Cares for Kids partner with NewsChannel 21.
“I took a tour of NeighborImpact, and they told me that 1 in 5 kids is food insecure in Oregon. It seemed so easy for all of us to do a little and help the kids who don’t have a choice where their next meal comes from. Hoodoo’s thing is helping the community and having fun, so I knew it would be easy to do a food drive there. If everyone helps a little, besides helping our neighbors, we get the bonus of having some fun at the same time,” Finney McFarland said.
Hoodoo’s ski slopes will be open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. April 20-22 to conclude the 2017-18 season. Hoodoo will also offer all season pass holders one free adult lift ticket for a friend to use April 21-22 (one free lift ticket per day, same-day use only). Hoodoo’s season pass sale also ends this Sunday, April 22.
