It’s time to register for fall kindergarten

KTVZ

It’s time for families of incoming kindergarten students to register for school. Neighborhood schools are hosting events for kindergarten registration, beginning Wednesday. Bend-La Pine Schools is planning for more than 1,100 new kindergartners to start school in the fall.

“We are excited to welcome new kindergarten students and their families to our schools,” said Gary Timms, executive director of elementary programs for Bend-La Pine Schools. “These events are a great way for families and students to start feeling connected to school. They are also helpful for us to plan enrollment needs about staffing, classroom space and materials.”

In order to be eligible for kindergarten, students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2018. To register, parents should bring a child’s birth certificate or other legal proof of age; proof of address; and a record of immunizations.

Events at schools vary and families should contact their neighborhood school for details. Families can find their neighborhood school through our Attendance Area webpage.

After April 25, parents can register students between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. any school day.
