Campaigning on the slogan “Not Me, Not I, But Us,” La Pine High School junior Trentyn Tennant was unanimously elected Executive Vice President of the Oregon Future Business Leaders of America chapter by its 300 voting delegates.

About 2,000 attendees at the annual State Business Leadership Conference in Portland also heard his campaign speech, in which Tennant promised to take members’ ideas and opinions to the national level. “I want to be their voice,” the 16-year-old explained in a news release.

Having also served as president of his local chapter for the 2017-2018 school year, Tennant is now running for Executive Vice President of FBLA’s Western Region, which consists of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Voting will take place at this year’s National Leadership Conference, being held in Baltimore June 28 – July 1, which is expected to attract more than 5,000 students from the United States, Germany, Canada and the Virgin Islands.

Tennant is involved in 4-H, student government, soccer, wrestling and robotics, and takes Advanced Placement (AP) and honors classes. He is the student liaison for the La Pine City Council (the town’s governing body), was asked to serve as student representative for the Tobacco Prevention and Education Program (TPEP) in Deschutes County, and is a member of the Oregon Statewide Youth Action Council (SYAC).
