NYSSA, Ore. (AP) – Three organizations are collectively offering $2,250 for information leading to the arrest of vandals who damaged more than 40 gravestones in an Eastern Oregon cemetery.

The Idaho Statesman reports the Three Rivers Crimestoppers ($1,000) and OM Stone ($250) are joining the Cemetery Association of Oregon ($1,000) in offering the reward for information on the between 40 and 50 headstones that were damaged May 2 at the Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Nyssa.

Officials say the vandals caused an at least $50,000 worth of damage.

The Cemetery Association of Oregon says insurance will not cover the damages.

Abuse of a memorial to the dead carries a maximum fine of $50,000 under Oregon law.
